Our practice has a recognised design focus and is committed to the creation of successful interior and exterior spaces. While architecture is recognised for its contemporary work and leading edge solutions it does this with a strong emphasis on appropriateness and acknowledgment of time and place. As a practice we are committed to incorporating sustainable design solutions in all our projects to an appropriate level and in agreement with our clients. The building was developed to produce leased accommodation for VFW Schools of Architecture and Design on four levels. The ca and recreational spaces are located centrally, functioning both as a relaxation space as healthy as an informal meeting and labor space. The design includes a two store central spine element and inside street that serves to connect the functions of library, gallery, museum, performance space and community meeting facilities.
Stuart Gardyne from architecture is the recipient of the 2015 New Zealand Institute of Architects' Gold Medal. The solution established at a conceptual level a two volume form with an open’ transparent form willing the foyer and public facilities, and a closed’ solid form willing the galleries, theater and back of house facilities. A key element to architecture ’s win is their developer ambitious client bottom in both the commercial and residential sector, and the ability to deliver quality design solutions that are commercially viable. Stephen is responsible for documentation and project delivery at architecture and has overseen the design and construction of numerous award-winning commercial, civic, corporate interior and residential projects in Fresh Zealand.
Architecture is involved in public architecture, commercial interior design and residential projects and has been the recipient of numerous local, regional and national awards. Stuart Gardyne Wellington 1957 studied architecture at the Victoria University School of Architecture in Wellington, New Zealand graduating in 1981. The building has strong spatial relationships to the begin space on all sides. The development site is located to the east of Thornton Quay with a double frontage to both the street and adjacent On Track land to the east, resulting in a site with two protected frontages.
Allan is responsible for design, documentation and project delivery at architecture and has overseen the design and construction of a number of award-winning residential projects in Fresh Zealand. By vertically separating the theater from the ground floor activities this allows the ground floor to hum with the daily activity of the gallery, hall and ca without the impediment of the theater. The interior space forms part of a larger integrated day living space that includes dining and kitchen and opens up to the covered and originate decks and terraced land to the north west. We have completed an addition to the building to accommodate two excess galleries and an auditorium, allowing the existing cinema to be removed to make space for a third additional gallery within the original building.
The alterations create a striking distinction from the ingenious house and new connection of the living spaces to the garden. The City Gallery occupies the used 1930’s Wellington Central Library building located in the Civic Square. This project is both the tallest building designed by architecture and built by the developer Stratum so far. Allan worked with the Ministry of Works and Development and again behind graduation from AUSOA, . As in the existing galleries, the character of the new galleries is derived from the ceilings. Between 1992 and 1994 he worked as a consulting architect and in 1994, formed architecture with Anne almond, Stephen Poulopoulos and Stuart Gardyne.
