Publications Safety Manual Electricity Industry SM EI Consolidated Electronic Version. The EEA is committed to providing the New Zealand electricity supply industry with expertise, advice and information on technical, engineering and safety issues affecting the electricity industry. These include Chief Executives, senior engineering technical managers, engineering and field staff, health and safety managers working in network, generation and electricity retail companies, contractors, consultants and equipment suppliers. The EEA also provides an extensive range of publications for the industry and public use, including technical safety guides and standards, safety and asset management resources, industry reports and links to relevant legislation and international information.
EEA also organise professional development training for industry staff, and have developed close relationships with a number of New Zealand, Australian and United Kingdom power engineering schools and safety training providers to offer leading edge professional development training and resources to New Zealand engineers. The purpose of the group is to facilitate and support the delivery of good industry practice through the publication of rules, guides and standards that govern the Electricity Supply Industry ESI by . Research and identify the potential work related health issues in the ESI and develop strategies to effectively manage the risks. The role of the National Committee on Live Work NCLW is to be the authoritative industry body for discussion and resolution of national issues effecting live line work and live work on networks in the electricity supply industry. Richard has over 20 years of experience in the electricity and production industries and is currently General Manager Strategic Development and Regulatory for Northpower Ltd. Richard has held senior leadership positions in engineering, asset management, and business development, and has successfully managed major projects throughout his career.
He is an enthusiastic people manager and professional engineer with more than 25 years experience of technical and commercial team leadership, project management, management consulting, power system design, operation and asset management within the electricity supply industry. Tas is the distribution sector representative on the Power Engineering Excellence Trust which governs the activities of the Electric Power Engineering Centre EPEC at the University of Canterbury which promotes and encourages electric power engineering at the undergraduate and post graduate level. Michael is currently the Network Strategy Manager and Chief Engineer at Powerco, where he takes responsibility as asset owner's representative, setting asset policies, standards and outcomes, and overall asset management information architecture. He has previously been a Trustee of the University of Canterbury Power Engineering Excellence Trust PEET and Electric Power Engineering Centre EPECentre and Board member of Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation.
Robert has over 30 years of experience with the electricity industry in trade and management functions, both with asset owners Auckland Electric Power Board and with major electricity users Pacific Steel . Robert is currently General Manager for Electrix Ltd, and in his 10 years with Electrix has had leadership roles in the securing and execution of major term maintenance contracts in the Distribution and Transmission sectors. Harvey has nearly 30 years experience in the electricity supply industry, including operational and technical office experience in electricity generation, and the last 12 years as a consultant. Harvey is currently a member of the EEA Executive, a Fellow of IPENZ, and represents the EEA on the joint Australia and NZ Standards Committee on Pressure Equipment ME 1 . He is a Member of the Institute of Directors in NZ and has held a number of directorships. He is a founding member of the Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation ESITO and the Electric Power Engineering Centre at the University of Canterbury.
Publications Safety Manual Electricity Industry SM EI Consolidated Electronic Version. The EEA facilitates a number of working groups to develop engineering, technical and safety standards, guidelines and best practice documents that support, improve and build on the knowledge and understanding of industry safety. The EEA also works closely with a number of government and overseas project based working groups, including the OSH Approved Code of Practice on Tree Trimming Working Group the Tree Regulations Working Group and the Distributed Generation Working Group. The Safety Standards and Procedures Group SSPG is a key Standing Committee of the EEA.
