Only 10 minutes drive from Wellington city's CBD 30 minutes by yacht , our Club is situated in magnigicent Evans Bay. With a wide membership of yachts, launches, and trailer boats we emcompass a variety of nautical interests. Membership forms and full details are available from the office on the first floor of the clubhouse, alternatively you can download a membership form and send it in. 10 yrs membership Senior 300. 00 19 yrs and over Youth and Junior 75 Under 19 yrs Family 370. 00 Senior plus partner and children under 19 yrs Social 50. 00 Clothing. The following services are provided by the Club and come under the control of the Club Captain Quick slip and side slipping for keelers and launches. The Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club was founded in 1918 by a group of enthusiasts who recognised that the location was ideal for sailing and boating.
Three years later, in 1921, piles were driven into the sea for the first clubhouse in the area now covered by the dance floor of the downstairs hall area. For five years, from 1949, the clubhouse was the customs and immigration point for the TEAL Sunderland flying boats which operated an air link to Australia. The slipway is the original one built to facilitate the maintenance of small defence launches during the second world war. It was built with a bearing capacity of 20 tons and was extensively used by the American forces. Training has always been a priority within the club and many of the cups and trophies acknowledge this in their presentation documents.
During the early 60's a group of parents and club members developed a P Class building and refurbishment programme which introduced 100 new junior members into yachting and set the scene for the club to thrive through into the 1970's. Patrons used to walk from areas such as Newtown on a Saturday evening to attend the monthly dance

The Officers of the Club shall consist of a Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore, Club Captain, hereinafter called Flag Officers, Sailing Academy Officer, Communications and Marketing Officer and Events Officer. Such requisition shall clearly state the purpose, business and object of the meeting, and shall have been signed by at minimum 14 members who are eligible to vote and have been members of the Club for at minimum one financial year before the General Meeting. 00 for club members and Sailing Academy members 375. However you do need to have a small experience, perhaps from doing one of our Learn to Sail courses, prior you can crew in a race.
If you want to learn to sail dinghies it is probably superior to begin with one of our courses. An Affiliated Member or any of its members shall not be eligible for to vote nor produce office, nor to nominate another member as an officer of the club. Where no nominations have been received for any special office within the required time, nominations for that office may be made up to the time of the election. Committee Meetings The Committee shall meet as and when called by the Commodore or on the requisition of three members of The Committee, but shall face at minimum once every month.
A Sailing Academy Member shall be entitled to participate in yacht racing and use the facilities of the Club but shall not be eligible to vote nor to bear office, nor to nominate another member as an officer of the Club, nor to propose a candidate for membership of the Club. If The Committee desires or is required to call a Particular General Meeting the Club istrator or a member of The Committee shall post in the Club House and by circular to members a Notice of Meeting. Nominations for the Various Offices Nominations for the Patron, President, Officers and Sub Committee members may only be made by a member eligible to vote who has been a member of the Club for at least one financial year prior the Annual General Meeting. From Tory to Wellington, set sail out of Tory the moment the tide turns, which is seven hours before Lofty Water in Wellington, so you then have six hours to get to the Karori Rip. Children included in the membership shall not be eligible to vote nor bear office nor to nominate another member as an Officer of the Club.
