Past NZ Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated Northland Representative to 2010 . Current member of the ZESPRI Innovation Advisory Forum responsible for the procurement of research and formerly the ZESPRI Innovation Board. HortNZ acts as an umbrella organisation for the 22 affiliated Product Groups. To provide a unifying vision for the horticulture sector, which increases collaboration between product, sector, regional and district groups and enhances the sector’s ability to respond to and influence decisions that affect it, and to develop and encourage industry wide projects which benefit all growers. While preserving the individuality of product and regional groups, Horticulture NZ unites the industry to work proactively and effectively under a single banner.
To introduce New Zealanders to the horticulture sector its diversity, innovation, and its contribution to regional development, the economy, and to the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders. New Zealand has an international reputation for producing safe, high quality produce because growers have proactively set up initiatives demanding accountability and environmental best practice. A high profile for this progressive sector will help to inspire those currently working with the industry, and also attract the innovation and talent necessary to ensure its continuing success. To advocate on behalf of the industry to protect the natural resources which are essential to growers’ ability to use best practice to grow and export their produce.
To address issues which have a direct impact on growers’ business’, such as seasonal labour demands, carbon tax, compliance costs, increasing user pays charges, research and development policy and border security. Improving the business environment for growers will increase the profitability and international competitiveness of the industry, as well as attracting new industry participants and investment
03 May 2016 End week I was down in Canterbury attending the Young Vegetable Grower of the Year Final. 03 May 2016 Final week I was down in Canterbury attending the Young Vegetable Grower of the Year Final. 13 May 2016 Last Tuesday’s Pukekohe Vegetable Growers' Association ABM was well attended with all major vegetable growing interests represented.
New Zealand horticulture is a 5 billion industries, exporting 60 of whole production to about 124 countries. Aug 2015 HortNZ offers a variety of support programmed for people in the horticulture industry. Horticulture Fresh Zealand is an industry association representing New Zealand's 5500 commercial fruit and vegetable growers. Young Grower of the Year is an annual competition run by Horticulture Fresh Zealand to find the superior young fruit or vegetable grower in the country.

In 2009 the horticulture industry released its first industry strategy, Growing A Fresh Future’, which has the goal of achieving an industry valued at 10 billion by the year 2020. 12th March 2015, Grower Encourage Horticulture New Zealand, supported by 12 grower groups has made a submission on the Food Safety Law Reform Bill to the Primary Production Select Committee.
