He completed the four year Diploma course at Wellington Polytechnic Now Massey University Design School in 1982. He returned to Wellington where he started picking up prop and model making work largely for the advertising industries. This included one job that involved building a replica 1 1 scale model of a F18 fighter jet that was realistic enough to fool the New Zealand Army.
Sue and Rob travelled to England so Rob could study Ceramic Design and Manufacture for a year in Stoke on Trent. Rob started what was then Human Dynamo Modelmaking, LTD, and in 2001 Sue joined Rob in the workshop as a business partener. Rob and Sue have managed to adapt and stay on the front line of fabrication. She enjoyed a childhood with lots of space and adventure and a semi rural lifestyle.
This lead her to study Visual Communication Design at Wellington Polytechnic now Massey University Design School . The course was a perfect fit for her, covering illustration, design, photography, animation, film, life drawing, typography, printmaking and fashion illustration. Sue worked as an Art Director at Illot Advertising Limited later becoming Ted Bates in Wellington. While Rob studies ceramics Sue works as Creative Director for DCL Advertising in Stoke on Trent, England. Free lance Design and illustration Work in Wellington, NZ Hataitai Playcentre Member Wellington.
Sue is now the creative director of Human Dynamo and has worked hard to bring Human Dynamo Workshop online, to modernise and create a strong name that both Sue and Rob are proud of creating
In 2005 Human Dynamo Workshop made a set of miniature models for the film stealth. We are experts in Design, Cad software, CBC cutting, 3D printing, Gould making and casting, vacuum forming and fabricating. At Human Dynamo Workshop we know that the people who labor here are the most urgent part of our company. We are professionals in digital fabrication and CBC router cutting and will labor with our client from beginning to end to get the best results.
For this film Human Dynamo Workshop fabricated custom interiors for aircraft and vehicles. Laser cutting or 3D printing a job on a insignificant scale as a test is a convenient tool to ensure the effectiveness of the design. We use laser cutting, vacuum forming, CBC cutting, experience and attention to detail to bear architectural models to a pretty finished standard. Human Dynamo designed, then Ore fabricated and painted the cottage in our workshop
