We evolved from the first professional engineering body in New Zealand, set up in as the Institute of Local Government Engineers of New Zealand. The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand IPENZ is New Zealand’s professional body for engineers, which makes us a team of people dedicated to building a strong engineering profession that New Zealanders have confidence in and can trust. With a number of Membership categories, we welcome engineers from all disciplines and at any stage in their careers Student, Graduate, Professional or Fellow. Managing competence standards setting standards, performing assessments and maintaining a register of currently competent engineers.
Supporting professional development we offer training opportunities tailored to the needs of engineers, and support engineers as they work towards registration. Encouraging Members to give back to the profession by helping each other we can create a more cohesive and supportive industry. Elena is a professional director who serves on a number of company boards and an independent consultant. Elena chairs the IPENZ Engineering Practice Advisory Committee and Audit and Risk Committee. She is a member of the Performance and Remuneration Committee and Fellowship Panel.
He has previously chaired the IPENZ Engineering Practice Advisory Committee and is the current Chair of the Performance and Remuneration Committee. Craig is an IPENZ Practice Area Assessor, a previous Chair of the Competence Assessment Board and was a founding Director and subsequently Chair of the New Zealand Green Building Council. A Chartered Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, Craig has a range of governance experience. Craig currently serves on the Engineering Practice Advisory Committee, Standards Accreditation Board and Audit and Risk Committee.
He is a member of the Board's Performance and Remuneration Committee and Engineering Practice Advisory Committee. He was the Chair of the IPENZ Emerging Professionals Council and national Chair of the Engenerate programme before stepping down after being appointed to the Board in May 2013. Glen previously served on the Engineering Practice Advisory Committee and is a current member of the Competency Assessment Board and Audit and Risk Committee. She is a Director of Transpower and on the governing boards of several national government funded research projects.
He is also a Stormwater New Zealand committee member and a Futureintech Ambassador. In his new role as General Manager Engineering leadership, Graham is responsible for developing and promoting professional engineering practice, developing and advocating sound engineering policy, growing our continuing professional development portfolio, and fostering relationships for our technical groups, Branches, Professional Development Partners and heritage organisations. Her previous roles have included marketing and communications, change management and executive management work for organisations including BNZ, ANZ, the Ministry of Social Development and cult clothing boutique Jetsetbohemian

We evolved from the first professional engineering body in New Zealand, set up in as the Institute of Local Government Engineers of New Zealand. Engineers soon called for a wider ranging professional body and we formed in 1914 as the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers.
We changed our name in 1937 and became the New Zealand Institution of Engineers in recognition of the variety of engineering disciplines our Members were involved in
