A meaningful documentary project combining photographic portraits and oral history in recording the life experiences of some 30 gay men and couples. Men Alone Men Together is a major project combining photography and oral history in documenting the lives of 45 gay men 14 couples, 14 single men and one trio and recounting how their lives’ journeys have, for the moment, led them towards or away from relationship with another. He was well into his eighties by then, and although his smile was still energetic his health was first to fail. After he died the subsequent year I visited the house several times, photographing it as it was when he had lived there and then recording the gradual clearing away of his possessions.
We spent a couple of weeks exploring the provinces of Malta And Jujoy in the northwest of the country, and from there ascended to the Altiplano or high plateau that forms the bottom of the Andes, rising to altitudes of over 400 meres.
