Services

Separation is a difficult time and many issues suddenly become extremely urgent, including occupation of the family home, division of relationship property, childcare arrangements, and financial support. We can assist you with working out the division of property after the end of a relationship, including valuing assets, preparing separation agreements, and if necessary, using the Family Court to resolve property issues. We can advise you about spousal maintenance and child support issues, help with IRD istrative reviews, and prepare applications to the Family Court if agreements can’t be reached about spousal maintenance or child support. We can either help you prepare your own application, or do the whole thing for you. We can assist you if you wish to adopt a child, or if you wish to get advice about the effect of agreeing to your child being adopted. If you need to find out for sure who the father is of the child, we can help you to arrange DNA tests, and if necessary, take steps to have the other parent recorded on the birth certificate. If you are unhappy about the provision that has been made for you in a family member’s Will, you can make an application to the Court for a fairer division. If a family member has lost capacity and can no longer make decisions regarding their own welfare and property, someone else may need to be appointed by the Court to make those decisions for them
