With a combined experience of 25 years, the two principle installers at Shelving Wellington have developed techniques and know how to cope with any magnitude of shelving installation. From a single bay for storing files in a cupboard to large movable archival storage of 50,00 shelves and more, they have designed specialised trolleys, jigs and lifting equipment to enable projects of any scale to be carried out efficiently and with minimal impact on surrounding personnel and infrastructure. Over the last 14 years they have been been involved in projects for most government departments, and have security clearance to carry out work in some of the most secure sites in New Zealand. Projects have included libraries at public, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, shelving fitouts for some of the leading names in retailing, and large installations of staff lockers for major food processing plants, transport companies and commodity distribution facilities.
Their first major job was the relocation of a storage facility for Te Papa in 200 and since then they have done over 2500 installations. One of the things they take pride in is that they have never failed to complete a job on time, they do whatever it takes to meet a deadline
Archives New Zealand made space available and the affectionate to supply shelving was won by local suppliers Dexion Precision. The contract to install was let to the installers for Shelving Wellington who operate lower the name Surefire Shelving Contractors. With the re opening of the National Library the AL collection was moved back and the shelving handed over to Archives NZ to accommodate coming storage needs.
Their expertise ensured the job flowed smoothly and was completed ahead of schedule, The Tangible Doctors' skill in concrete placing was called upon to lay the infill between the tracks
