With an innovative and creative approach to business we are the pioneers of many industry developments. Dion Ross established Specialised Container Services in May 1990, as a single depot service provider in Wellington, New Zealand. As demand for the service grew, the company developed its geographic spread to cater for the increasing requirements of shipping and leasing companies. Their combination of operational, istrative and planning expertise has grown to a team of more than 300 highly skilled employees, based out of eleven depot facilities in ten locations throughout New Zealand.
With an innovative and creative approach to business we are the pioneers of many industry developments enjoyed today. The Specialised Group was the first fully conversant container maintenance and repair facility to develop an all encompassing port based presence in New Zealand. This development took place in Napier in 1993 and is now common practice throughout most regions of New Zealand, with Specialised Container Services providing the majority of port based depot operations. The Specialised Group was the first depot services provider to offer in house refrigeration expertise.
This specialisation enabled us to effectively streamline these two operations thereby increasing efficiency and reducing costs for clients. The Specialised Group instigated and designed the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries MPI approved decontamination and wash process procedure for container depots. By approaching business in an efficient, flexible and innovative manner, The Specialised Group will continue to develop its reputation for providing a high quality, results driven service. Values, strategies and vision all designed and confirmed by our staff form the foundation of our commitment to the industry and each other.

Breton completed his apprenticeship in August 2015 and is now a Refrigeration Engineer based in Christchurch, but regularly travels to various other regions for support. He has been fundamental to the setting up of various depots, including JCS Napier and is currently a healthy respected member of the leadership team at MetroBox Savill Drive. Through his understanding of the depot and its operations he has become a key member of the leadership team at MetroBox Savill Drive with the potential to accomplish more with the Company. MetroBox is a joint venture between The specialized Group and MetroPort KiwiRail and Port of Tauranga who jointly selected The specialized Group to manage and run the MetroBox facility as segment of our commitment to shipping and leasing companies throughout New Zealand.
