Kids will learn about a variety of topics which could include everything from dog training, animal care and responsible animal guardianship to improving our community for our animals and each other. Our experienced educators visit approximately 10,00 students a year, across the Wellington region, teaching about the SPCA in our community, caring for animals, dog safety, animal careers and more. We can come and visit your group and offer everyone an opportunity to Paws and Relax by spending time with specially selected SPCA animals!. Visitors will be presented with general information regarding the SPCA, what we do, how to help animals in our community, being safe around dogs and more. In a panic, Ezra went 25 m up into a large pine tree that hung over a small stream, which was in an area with no public road access. Ezra was reunited with his loving family five days after his panicked climb up the tree and quickly established himself in front of the heater at home. The Wellington SPCA veterinary hospital is the first stop for all animals that come into the Newtown Centre. Our dedicated veterinary hospital team helps every animal that comes to the SPCA. These animals are given a quiet, loving temporary home to recover before they return to one of our centres to be put up for adoption. Our Wellington SPCA Inspectors work on the front line rescuing animals who have been in an accident, abused or abandoned. In our veterinary hospital animals receive everything from routine health checks and vaccinations to life saving surgery. Wellington SPCA works with the community to prevent cruelty and encourage the humane treatment of all animals. This means protecting animals in need by providing medical care, love and shelter at our centres in both Newtown and Waikanae. It also means educating people on how to improve their pet's wellbeing, working with owners to ensure that the standard of care is acceptable, and prosecuting those who neglect or deliberately harm animals. Wellington SPCA has a team of Animal Welfare Inspectors who respond to allegations of animal cruelty and neglect and have the legal power to remove animals from their owners. They were then returned to our centre in Newtown and adopted out to loving and caring homes. Your support will also mean that we can find loving new families abandoned animals and give them the homes they deserve. Last year our team of Inspectors investigated over 1,078 animal welfare complaints across the Wellington region.
