What you should know about Wellington Dragon Boat Festival
The NZCT Wellington Dragon Boat Festival in New Zealands Capital City is the largest Dragon Boat Festival in New Zealand. The festival has been running for over 25 years and attracts thousands of particiants and spectators to Wellingtons fabulous water front, which is centrally located close to business, accommodation and world renowned restaurants and bars. 11th and 12th March Corporate Teams race on Saturday along with Sports crews including BCS teams, while School crews race on Sunday. This iconic event is still one of the best ways for companies and schools to promote team work and awaken the excitment within your company
The Wellington Dragon Boat Festival is the ultimate Team Building opportunity for companies wanting to showcase their company, promote team labor and unleash the competitive spirit.
Wellington High School and Newlands College had a incredible fight final year. Surf lifesavers are encouraged to apply, however if you are studying to be a nurse, we encourage you to apply for the land based position. The Wellington Dragon Boat Festival prides itself on being a supplier of top quality dragon boat paddles. We are everlasting on the lookout for Sweeps, Coaches and Mangers who can help fresh Mature teams and or the schools.
If you're training session has to be called off on the day, it will be rescheduled at a time suitable to your team and the dragon boat festival office. Managers, Coaches and Sweeps, it is a good idea to put your entire team through a swim test before the training season starts. We are lucky adequate to have a very experienced Supervisors in each area around the race course who can up aptitude you to become an integral member of their team. There is a merriment practice race day in February so teams can practice their race skills prior the huge Festival in March.
Mixed schools are welcome to enter a Boys team along with the conventional boys schools. The NZ CT Wellington Dragon Boat Festival has accessible to 1,500 participants and is watched by up to 5,00 spectators each day along the Wellington Waterfront. 75 of the team must be from the one company otherwise teams will be re catergorised into the Originate Sports Division. It is an absolute requirement that all participants Paddlers, sweeps, drummers and coaches be capable to swim 100 meres confidently.
It is located off Frank Kitty Park and boats load and leave from the Aotea lagoon. Each training session is limited to 8 dragon boats as there are 2 rescue boats to promote this number of teams so you may need to be supple on the rescheduling. Schools entering for the first time will be provided with a coach and sweep release of charge to assist them get established. Every year we aim to train up fresh Coaches and Sweeps and also assist educate fresh Managers.
You will be introduced to the Rescue crew, along with the Head Training Sweep alum and Head Training Coach Jacob
