What you should know about Terrace Counselling and Therapy
At Terrace Counselling and Therapy we believe in the importance of a strong community. This is why we offer a portion of our time to community organistions and individuals at low cost. We have a strong ethic towards reflective practice, collegial support and ongoing personal development. All of our practitioners adhere to the code of ethics of The New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists
As we choose not to be involved in Family Court processes and mediation, we will refer you elsewhere if you need this.
In my role as a facilitator trainer I labor in various locations around New Zealand. I worked within a Kaupapa Maori mental health and addiction service for considerable years as well as doing private practice. Many people who seek support only need a scanty sessions to deal effectively with their concerns. My interest in psychotherapy began with me engaging in my own personal work.
Terrace counseling Therapy has a group offering encourage with the day to day stresses of life. I have completed a number of training in group facilitation, and train other facilitators in how to work with various groups. I was born and raised in the central North Island and recently moved to Wellington to join my colleagues at Terrace counseling and Therapy. Each of us has trained for a least of four years in Gestalt Psychotherapy along with other professional development work.
We share a common grounding and passion in relational psychotherapy, first informed by our own experience of this as clients. Our practice was founded by a group of health professionals who met at the Gestalt Institute of New Zealand gin. This follows four years of advanced psychotherapy training with the Gestalt Institute of Fresh Zealand. I have a deep personal background in spirituality, creativity and making meaning of life’s experiences. We are adept and experienced in a range of common presenting issues that bring people through our door.
Whatever your situation, we will seek to urge and prosper your own accepting and a clear process to assist you realism your correct self and intentions. I have spent maximum of my professional life performing a variety of roles within the mental health and addiction field, including time specializing in relationship therapy. Many people who seek encourage only need a scanty sessions to deal effectively with their concerns. We recognize it can be hard to attend sessions within active hours, behind hours appointments are available and we welcome a discussion about what is possible and your unique needs.
An emphasis on what emerges between client and therapist underpins this work, allowing a testing ground for finding new ways of relating to your world. Many people find that attending a group can be greatly rewarding, both in gaining a sense of fresh perspectives and in realizing that other people have experiences like their own. I beginning came to Aotearoa New Zealand at the age of 8 and have lived in Dunedin, wapiti, the Tasman Region and Wellington
